Accreditation

For any question: accreditation@supportpfue2008.fr

Accreditation for the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (FPEU) is a secure means of access to official venues or part of these venues. Online accreditation for the FPEU is available for four different types of participants:

  • delegations,
  • media,
  • official suppliers and service providers,
  • members of the public.

Accreditation holders must wear their badges visibly at all times and comply with all necessary access and security checks. The accreditation badges are personal and non-transferable. They are not a substitute for legal forms of identification and cannot be presented in place of an entrance visa for France. The accreditation badges will be issued in the specially-created accreditation centres. A colour photograph of the applicant, in identity card form (height: width = 4:3), in JPEG format (max. 200 kb) is required.

Data protection and verification

The Secretariat-General of the FPEU has set up an IT system to process the accreditation applications of the different participants in the events organised in France from 1 July to 31 December 2008. To obtain accreditation, you must fill in the accreditation form, the electronic validation of which constitutes the data authentication. In accordance with Act No 78-17, as amended on 17 January 1978, on information technology, files and freedom, everyone has a right to access his or her data of a personal nature. You may exercise this right by writing directly to the Secretariat-General of the French Presidency of the European Union – 23, rue La Pérouse – 75016 PARIS.

For the delegations

The invited delegations will be notified of the internet address when they receive their official invitations from the relevant Ministry including the access codes (user names and passwords) stipulating the period for which accreditation is open. The delegations will be asked to nominate someone to manage the requests for accreditation for each meeting, who will be in charge of the requests for participation from the members of the delegation and be the main contact person for the organisers and their representatives.

For the media

Media professionals should apply online for accreditation for events taking place in France during the French Presidency. All requests for accreditation should be made individually, via the FPEU internet site (www.ue2008.fr). In exceptional circumstances, last-minute requests for accreditation may be accepted. However, it must be noted that this process would involve a lengthy wait and that the security services and organisers reserve the right to refuse to issue last-minute accreditations. Accreditation badges are issued subject to the presentation of a valid identity document (identity card or passport), the details of which have already been entered in the accreditation form (via the internet site), and the original professional card, press card of the European Commission or letter from the communication agency to which the applicant belongs, stating exactly to which meetings the applicant is dispatched. Media professionals who are not in possession of a professional document must enter “LETTER FROM EMPLOYER” in the field “No of press card” and must be in possession of an original letter issued by the communication agency that they represent, listing the meetings which they should attend, to receive their accreditation badge. The accreditation badge is issued subject to presentation of the following documents:

– identity card or passport;
– valid professional card or original of the letter issued by the communication agency represented.

For the official suppliers and service providers

The suppliers and service providers engaged by the organisers of the various meetings and events will be notified of the internet address when they receive their official invitations from the relevant Ministry including the access codes (user names and passwords) stipulating the period for which accreditation is open. The suppliers and service providers are requested to also register their company and the different persons liable to access the meeting venue for a given event. The supplier or service provider must provide this information for each meeting or event. The person responsible for the accreditation request for each supplier or service provider must have the authority to act on behalf of the company that he or she represents and will be the main contact person for the organisers and their representatives.

For members of the public

A certain number of events of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (FPEU) are open to members of the public. Requests for accreditation must be submitted using the online form. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any application which is not justified and which does not conform to the event programme. All the specific information requested on the form must be entered so that the accreditation request can be authenticated.
